Meet Joanna Romanzo

There was no question in my mind that a career in hair and makeup was definitely my calling!  Shortly after high school, I took a little break and worked in retail then started researching cosmetology schools. After several school tours with my mom, we finally found the school that I would be going to. I attended Colonna Beauty School in downtown Albany and it was there that my life changed forever! Did I want to pursue a career in hair, or makeup, or skin?? I was so passionate about everything that I was just hungry for more and more education.

After school, I took my first job in skincare and makeup. I continued with lots and lots of education. Workshops, seminars, shows. Some of the best education classes I took were Cosmetic ingredients which was a full week of intense classes and to me, was the absolute base and foundation for our industry no matter what direction one might take. Some of my other favorite classes were Shaping the face with Dominic Cruz of Kryolan, Bridal updos with Martin Parsons, Skincare before and after cosmetic surgery with Ann Johnson, and the Bullet Proof bride with Kevin James Bennett of Makeup Forever.

Education is the key to staying fresh and current with the changing times and my belief is that one is never too educated and if we learn one new technique, it can be priceless!
